Mackay Week is a time for all of us here at the University of Nevada to celebrate and honor John Mackay, the only Comstock mining baron to give back to the state of Nevada. If his name sounds familiar, take a walkout to the quad to see his statue that stands tall in front of the Delamare Library, or head over to Mackay Stadium to see his name in lights!

  • Nuggets of Gold – February 11 from 12-2 pm in the KC Rotunda
To kick off Mackay week, celebrate with free chicken nuggets and Sunny D! If you bring reusable plates or utensils (that are not plastic) you can cut the line and get free food faster! This is a great event to reduce single-use plastic and enjoy something for yourself.

  • Mackay’s Wacky Pop-Up Shop – February 12 from 1-3 pm in the Joe Crowley Student Union Great Room
At this event, ASUN will be setting up a pop-up shop and giving out free jackets to community members in need?! Other campus clubs and organizations will also be at this event, offering tips on how to save money, giving out food, and providing other information to help college students be successful!

  • Mackay and Cheese – February 13 from 12-2 pm in the KC Rotunda
If you love mac and cheese, then this is the event for you! Stop by and enjoy FREE mac and cheese and learn about the history of John Mackay. Make sure to stop by, enjoy some food, and learn about why Mackay makes our campus special.

  • Be Sweet and Get a Treat February 14 from 10 am-12 pm in the KC Rotunda
Valentine’s Day is finally here, and there is no better time to celebrate our love for Mackay! ASUN will be handing out Valentine’s Day candy and you can also grab a Valentine gram that you can write something sweet on to give to that special someone!
