Please join HuffPost and the Reno Gazette Journal, in partnership with the University of Nevada, Reno student government and newspaper, for this conversation about women in Nevada politics.
Come and join the discussion Women in Politics, in partnership with HuffPost. This event will be set up like a town hall forum where attendees can discuss issues in their community to women in political office. Nevada is the first state with a majority of women in its state legislature. This forum will highlight what makes our female majority special along with how that affects our community and legislative decisions. Women are making strides to make a difference in communities. The upcoming election cycle brings up significant challenges that need to be addressed.
This event will host several eminent women in politics and journalism to help us explore issues. Women in Politics will be led by moderator Amanda Terkel. Panelists will include Teresa Benitez-Thompson; Nevada Assembly Majority Floor Leader, Marsha Berkbigler, Washoe County Commissioner; Anjeanette Damon, Reno-Gazette-Journal government watchdog reporter; and Sue Wagner, former Nevada Lieutenant Governor. Come by and learn about the issues affecting your community. This event will take place at the Wells Fargo Auditorium on the first floor of the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center on October 10, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you wish to attend you can register for free on Eventbrite.
This event is part of HuffPost’s “Listen to America” RV tour — a two-week journey through five Western states to talk about issues affecting communities in California, Nevada, Idaho, Arizona and Colorado.
