Elect All the People: Underrepresented Students Running for Office
Saturday, Oct. 20th, 9 AM – 5 PM AND Sunday, Oct. 21st, 9 AM – Noon
Elect All the People: Underrepresented Students Running for Office is a training program focused on leadership and designed to demystify the process of running for office. Its goal is to prepare students who have historically been underrepresented (women, people of color, LGBTIA+, First-Gen, DACA, students with disabilities, low-income, etc.) in government to run for office.
This workshop seeks to create learning environments that foster and promote a culture of respect for people across identities. We welcome and embrace all intersections of identity, including gender expression and identity, sex, sexuality, race, ethnicity, national origin, first language, ability, age, religion, party, socioeconomic status, and citizenship status.
Students do not need to currently hold any formal or informal leadership positions or be currently involved in student organizations to go to this workshop.

At the workshops, participants will:

  • Discuss the importance of historically underrepresented identities running for office.
  • Map out their support networks.
  • Craft and deliver elevator speeches.
  • Learn about campaign strategy.
  • Meet role models who have run for public office in their community.
  • Network with students who currently serve on their campus student government.

Lunch will be provided.
Applications are due Monday, October 15th at 11:59pm
