Insight Magazine

Insight magazine is the newest magazine on campus, produced solely by University students who seek to write engaging human-interest pieces. It originally began as a Yearbook called the Artemesia, but transitioned to a magazine in 2008. The aim of the magazine is to engage and communicate with the student community by highlighting informative and entertaining issues that directly relate to student life. 

Each issue of Insight is a compilation of various written articles, photography, and design. The style of the magazine can be considered conversational and at times even satirical. The articles focus on a plethora of subjects including community entertainments, hot topic issues, profiles, music critiques, and more.

Sam DiSalvo is the Editor in Chief of Insight and also a contributing writer. She works closely with the staff of Insight to come up with innovative story ideas for every monthly issue. Each monthly issue has a different theme, all which are predetermined before the school year begins.  

“I want to uncover perspectives that haven’t always been talked about and at the same time I want it to be fun for students to read it (Insight) and to walk away with something new,” said DiSalvo. “Sometimes we’ll look at trends and try to see what’s behind this and why people act this way and that kind of stuff.”

One of DiSalvo’s favorite parts about working for Insight is that it’s a student publication that allows a considerable amount of creative control and freedom.  

“We can say things and feel totally comfortable with it and feel like its going to be accepted because its all students and we’re all for the goal of making a good product,” said DiSalvo.

Insight additionally has its own website meant to further expand access students have to its publications that you can check out here. Ultimately, Insight strives to be an interactive magazine that records student life by publishing issues and images that often define our generation. Be sure to check out the newest issue of Insight which was released on Feb. 13!  You can find the magazine at the various student publication racks around campus.
