Mackay Madness still underway

Mackay Madness is here! The celebration of a man who played a huge role in the growth of the University of Nevada has reached its hundredth year. The Mackay Month Kickoff, Blue Crew Blue Out and Mackay Standoff events have already occurred, but there are still many chances to participate in one of our university’s longest traditions!

Every Monday in March, ASUN will serve free lunch for the first 500 students to find the secret location on campus. Wednesday, Mar. 27 will be the annual Mackay Mining competition, where the best time will be awarded an Ipad Mini. The Steak and Steins event is on Friday, Mar. 29. A live cover band will play all night and Men Wielding Fire will serve catered steaks.

Throughout the month, students have been participating in the Mackay Mustache competition. The participant with the best mustache after the month of March, as voted on by the students on Facebook, will win a 48 -inch flat screen TV. Students can also participate in the Mackay Miracle Mile, which is raising money for an endowment to come back to the students. ASUN’s goal is to raise $10,460; a mile’s worth of one-dollar bills. Donations can be made in the ASUN accounting office or the marked bins around campus.
